Look in the Sky this Weekend for Rhode Island’s National Guard Open House Air Show

This weekend enjoy the 20th anniversary of the Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Airshow. This outstanding display can be found on 1 Belver Avenue in North Kingstown, Rhode Island on the 26-27th of June.  There are great performances by USAF Thunderbirds, C-130J Super Hercules, The Red Bull Air Force and so many more!

This is an event that people of all ages can enjoy and it’s free of charge! There are fun activities to participate in around the airport in an exciting and safe atmosphere. There are also sunscreen and earplugs available for the little ones that are donated by generous business in the area.

From the beginning the mission has been to, “put on a world class show featuring only the best aircraft and pilots and operate the show totally for the benefit of the community.” Over the past 19 years the RI Air Show’s contribution to local charities has surpassed $1,500,000 thanks to donations by the community, businesses, and attendees of the airshow.  This weekend fly over to Washington County for a performance that will take your breath away. If you wish, you may also make a donation at any of the entrances to support the Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

Bucci Insurance hopes your weekend in Rhode Island is at an all time high!

Alysse Pazienza wins 2010 Gymnastics Scholar Athlete at the Cox Rhode Island Sports Awards

What a spectacular night! The Cox Rhode Island Sports Awards took place this past Wednesday in the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence with great success. As stated on the website, “the Cox Rhode Island Sports Awards presented by the Rhode Island National Guard is an annual award show that honors the best and brightest athletes the Ocean State has to offer. Entering it’s third year in 2010, awards are given to the top male and female athlete at each of their respective high school sports. Voting is comprised of three different categories – the general public, a board of governors, and Eident Sports.” Wednesday night the winners were announced and I had the honor of presenting them with their award.

While it was a big night for all of the athletes, it was a particularly meaningful night for me as well. My senior year in high school I was a winner of the Cox RI Sports Awards for gymnastics. I can still vividly remember being giddy with excitement, talking to the athletes around me and anxiously waiting for the results. My excitement tripled when I found out shortly before the winners were announced, that my whole team came to support me. I was so surprised and grateful, it made that night so much more memorable. Three years later, Alysse Pazienza, the same girl that was there cheering me on, is now the 2010 gymnastics scholar athlete of the year. Thanks to my internship at Eident Sports marketing, I had come full circle and it meant so much to me that I was now able to present her with the award this year.

Sixteen year old Alysse Pazienza, only a sophomore at North Kingstown High School, has already made amazing accomplishments in the sport of gymnastics. This year alone, she was the star at the 2010 RI High School Gymnastics State Championships and proudly left there with the gold. She qualified for the Junior Olympic Level 9 Eastern Championships and placed 8th on bars, 8th on floor and 14th in the all around. She dedicates so much time and effort into the sport she loves all the while bringing joy to everyone around her. She is such a deserving athlete of this award and everyone here at Bucci Insurance is so proud her! Congratulations Alysse!
